This weekend I started a new project, using the items in the photo. Can your guess what project I am working on? I know, I am such a tease. Stay tuned for photos of the finished project to be posted soon. It was a perfect day for spray painting outside with minimal wind and some sun. I also tried to stage the photo a bit. I am working on my photography skills, hoping to look more like a professional blogger hehe! It was also Mothers Day and working on craft projects was a fun way to spend the day. My honey made dinner and phone calls from the kids made the day perfect. I hope you were able to get and give hugs to those that are dear to you or have a moment of sweet memories for the moms that are no longer here.

Pinwheel card
This pinwheel card is simple but fun. Who doesn't like a pinwheel? They remind me of summer breezes, fun and laughing. I decided to use a plain background and a colorful two sided paper to make my pinwheel. Simply cut the paper to fit your cardstock and attach with adhesive. I always cut paper to put on the inside of the card also, just to make it seem more complete. Next make your pinwheel by cutting your square as seen in the photo below, the black lines are cut lines. I think I started with a 2 inch by 2 inch square, but you can play around and decide what size you want.Punch small holes in the corners and the middle. The placements of the holes are the most important part, it took me many tries to figure that part out. Fold the outside hole to the middle hole, then insert the brad that will make the pinwheel.
I also punched a hole in the end of the paper straw so that the pinwheel will be attached to the straw before adhering it to the card. All that is left is to stamp your sentiment and ta-da, a pinwheel birthday card.
This same method may be used to make pinwheels for party decorations or cupcake toppers.
Supply List:
Card stock for the base
colorful two sided paper
plain paper
brad that matches the two sided paper
paper straw
stamp for sentiment
ink
hole punch
adhesive
paper cutter

Boat Card
This was a class that my sister and I taught at a local craft store. There are five cards, but because the computer is almost as old as I am and it is way slower than I am, the tutorial will be one card at a time. So here is the photo of the five cards and the tutorial for the boat card.
I wanted to make one of the cards to be geared towards a boy, so that in the set there were girl cards, boy cards and gender neutral cards included in the class.
Supplies Needed for boat card:
3-4 shades of blue paper
A small scrap of colorful paper
Brown paper
A2 card base or white card stock
Twine
Scrap of paper for banner
small piece of twine
Stamp/ink for sentiment
adhesive and popdots
I first cut the blue paper that is closest to sky blue to fit the card base, then adhered it with adhesive.
To make the waves use a little bit of trial and error. I just tore the edge of the paper into waves, no pattern. Then layer then so that you can see the contrast of colors. A bit of white might even look good, it would look like the top of a wave. When you adhere the waves to the page, make sure the adhesive is low on the paper so that the boat can be inserted into the waves. The boat was a circle of brown paper that I cut in half. Before adhering it to the waves, make sure to attach the piece of twine to the back of the boat. I knotted a piece of twine to hang off the side of the boat, it would be cute to use an anchor clip art or embellishment instead. The mast was a square piece that I cut on the diagonal to make a triangle. I love the pop of color that it brings to the card and it is a great way to use up left overs from other projects. Use foam pop dots to adhere the mast so that it pops off the card. For balance I cut a little banner to "fly in the wind" in the opposite direction. I stamped Birthday on the banner with the Happy just above it. For a little variation I cut little moons by punching a small yellow circle then using the same circle punch to make the indent of the moon. I also used this same card as a Baby shower invitation, instead of the Happy Birthday I stamped It's a Boy on the banner.
This is a simple card and not to hard to make, hope that you enjoyed seeing how I put it together. Keep watching and I will post the instructions for the other cards soon.
Good day for now

We are great at Networking!
Yesterday we attended a craft show, it was kind of a bust as far as shoppers and selling go. But there were lot's of fun crafters to "network" with. This is said with a chuckle if you know us. We can talk to anyone, anytime, about anything, but at a craft show we will just call it networking. If any of you have been a vendor at a show you will know what we mean. Our best customers seem to be the other vendors and I know we always look forward to seeing them at the next show.
